Or if he already has, how did you choose the next? And who was each one?

Personally, I picked my favorite driver by my favorite number, when I was about three years old, which was the number 2...so, my favorite driver was Rusty Wallace (or Crusty as my Dad always called him) from '93 until he retired in '05. I've always rooted for whomever Rusty's teammates were whenever Rusty was out of the race...so when he retired my second driver at the time was Flyin' Ryan Newman, so I just decided to make him my number 1 driver.

  1. I already have my next favorite afer Mark Martin leaves the #8

    Watch the #1 car!

  2. My favorite is Jeff Gordon. When he retires, I'll pick Jimmie Johnson as my new favorite. When he retires, I'll see who catches my fancy next.

  3. wow just cause chevy dosent have as much hp as toyota thats sad and i would pick tony jr burton or martin if khane went away but i dont think hes retiering befor these guys

  4. I will take a year and watch Nascar without a favorite and look for the best driver on and off the track. I often go for underdogs with a lot of potential.

  5. I don't know who I am going to root for when Gordon decides to retire. It's going to be really difficult. I've rooted for him ever since I've started watching NASCAR, which was about seven years ago. Will I root for Jimmie? Probably not. Though he is "Jeff's heir to the throne", I just can't seem to see myself rooting for him. Dale Jr.? Maybe. He's not a bad guy.

Now, it may sound like I'm complaining, or I guess a sore loser, but I know that Jeff would be a 6-time Cup Champion without the chase. I still just can't get over that. I'm proud of Jeff for putting on a good face about it, but really, to have 2 titles taken away from you must be very difficult. I hate to even answer this question. It seems , when Jeff leaves the sport, I'll have no one to root for. NASCAR to me just won't be the same. Guys are getting younger and younger. I only wish him the best the rest of his career. No one can ever replace him in that 24 DuPont Chevy. No one.

Edit: looks like the thumbs down trolls are out again!

  6. My favorite drivers were Darrell Waltrip and Dale Sr.

DW retired in 2000, Dale died in 2001, I didn't have a "favorite" driver for years. I had drivers that I didn't mind seeing win, but they were never my favorites.

At the end of the 2004 season, my mother-in-law suggested to me that I find an up and coming driver to be a fan of, one I could watch as their career progessed. Sounded intriguing, I'd never done that before, DW and Dale were in their prime when I became their fans. So I watched the last half of the 2004 season, and the first half of the 2005 season, the young up and comers at the time were Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne, Matrin Truex. 2005 Kyle Busch came into the cup series. I had eliminated Kahne and Truex, they just didn't seem right for me. So that narrowed it down to Carl and Kyle.

The first time I saw Kyle being interviewed it just clicked. That was my driver. I wish I would've watched more Busch races when he was down there. Hind-sight, I suppose..

Unless he plans to go to F1 when he's 30 (as he's hinted)

I think I'm set for the next 2 decades.

  7. My favorite driver is and always will be Jeff Gordon

When he retires, it will be a day I will hate most and a day that I don't think I can move on with

    That's just how it is

I know I will still watch NASCAR, but with immense less enthusiasm and excitement

I'm thinking to root for Ragan, Johnson, Hamlin or even Busch

    I dunno

That's not something I'm thinking now

    It's all about Jeff Gordon

    -Gordon #1 Fan

    Go Gordon!

  8. It'll be whoever Matt Kenseth tells me to keep an eye out for.

Just as Mark Martin did, about Kenseth !!!

  9. I did like you a few years ago when we really really started getting into racing and attending races I went for #25, my 2nd faveorite #.  2 also was my fav # but I was informed by all of our friends that being a Busch fan could be hazardous for my health.  so at first it was Brain Vickers. but after a year of watching him suck badly I changed to Kasey Kahne because he was a  younger driver who had done well in the past and had time to build his career, Plus he is just fine as h**l.  so now I am a Kahne fan but if anything happens to Kasey I would guess I would change to either Kevin Harvick because that is who my husband and son go for or Carl Edwards, because I like him and think he is a good driver.

  10. It will be what kind of car they drive and personality.  Namely they cannot drive Chevy...  Being Chevy bit Kyle Busch in the hiney last year, I thought he was a good candidate.  Also seeing I have a Scion in the driveway that hasn't given any problems at all in 40,000mi. was another good reason.  Go Toyota...

  11. I have 10 favorite drivers or so, not just one.  They change from year to year it also depends on the attitude too.  Replace once one retires?  We'll I just look to see in the pool of drivers who I like, attitude, racing ability, etc.

Some of my favorite drivers that are alive and racing now are:

    Robby Gordon

    Kyle Busch

    Tony Stewart

    Earnhardt, Jr.

    Jeff Gordon

    Kvapil

    Hornish

    Edwards

    Sadler

  12. Well i have more than 1 favorite driver. Tony Stewart is my first favorite driver then Denny Hamlin. When Tony retires or what ever Denny will be my new first favorite driver.

  13. My favorite is Jeff Gordon. My second is Carl Edwards. In third place is Kasey Kahne. Then comes Kyle Busche.

  14. I was a Bill Elliott fan since 1983, but Bill retired a few years ago although he has raced some races in the #21 the last 2 years. Carl Edwards is my favorite now. I also like Reed Sorenson and David Ragan since they are from my home state of Georgia.

  15. I set no criteria.  It could be any number of reasons.

  16. That is easy.  I will pick a ford.

  17. My favorite driver was Dale Sr. but after his fatal crash, I went on to choose a driver in DEI. I went with Steve Park and stuck with him until 2003. I was overwhelmed to see Steve Park win the following week in 2001. In 2004 I chose Martin Truex jr and stuck with him. I chose Paul Menard a year later and have stuck with him. Once they both retire I will go with another Young Gun driving for Dale Earnhardt Inc and will always stick with DEI. Maybe one day I can race for them!

  18. Well my favorite driver was The King and when he retired it was Jeff Gordon's first race and I had seen him racing in Busch and I started pulling for him.Now when he retires I will more than likely go for another Hendrick driver since I really like Dale Jr and Jimmie.

  19. I would have to stay loyal to Chevrolet. And my new driver would have to have the kind of personality and attitude that I respect. I have only had to change drivers once in my lifetime, and that was due to the death of Dale Sr. If Dale Jr. were to quit racing tomorrow,  I would probably have to go with Jeff Burton. And after he retires who knows.

  20. I'm going to stuff flags with each driver's number in beer bottles and pick one at random, kinda like they do for the lineup for the Bud Shootout!
