  1. You may tap it just to tap it

May tap it to activate a certain ability that requires you to tap it (see certain creatures)

You may tap it for mana

Frost cards work the same way as regular land cards, but in addtition, certain creatures can use them for special attacks

  2. When you tap a land, it's usually to put mana into your mana pool. Some lands, like the Ravnica Guild Halls, such as Rix Maadi, the Dungeon Palace, require you to tap two certain colors of mana and a certain number of colorless and tap it for a certain ability. If a land you control becomes tapped by a card effect, you cannot draw mana from it.

  3. You only add mana if you tap the land for it's mana ability. Tapping it for some other effect will not cause it to generate any mana, nor can you tap it just for the sake of tapping it.
