  1. if he dose it alot it might not mean anything if it dose it only once in a wile then set him down that migh mean that he wants to be left alone if that dosnt work go in slow pet him then lift him  if that dosnt work bring him to the vet

  2. That story is probably not true and if it is it is very rare that anything that painful could happen from a hamster, as for your hamster making that noise, id say it was from him being scared of you, but you've herd that a lot, it might be a respiratory problem, but all hamsters have their thing and it might be normal for your hamster. like how one of  my hamsters rolls over super fast in the tubes on her cage. its normal for her. but if you are worried about it, it might be best to take her to a vet, just incase.

  3. It probably because it's scared. Don't grab it to hard.

  4. They make that noise or sniff hard when they are angry or hurt so you just have to be careful that he don't have an injury and you are irritating it.

If he is just angry then just say tough!

The more you take him out he should get used to it and stop making that noise.

If he doesn't stop or calm down in a few weeks then take him to a vet as he may have bedding or something trapping his airways and may struggle to breathe. In fact, swapping to hypoallergenic bedding may be a good idea anyway.

Good luck and i hope he is OK.

  5. He is making that noise to try and scare you away as he doesnt like to be handled almost a hissing !

Thats what they do to ward off others that might want to fight or thats also what they do to defend thier territory they are just trying to bully you from handling them is all ! I do want to say if you have never been bit you dont want to as it really hurts !

usually if they already know you pretty well they will just nip at you but be carefull a bite can be rather painful , I no I have been bitten before !

  6. That "noise" is a warning noise. The noise means that you should put him down. He doesn't want to be handled at the moment. You should wait for a different time to pick him up. Perhaps you caught him at a bad time. That sound is actually like a cats hiss. When cats are unhappy or threatened they hiss. Think of it as the same thing. If you dont put him down soon after he makes that sound he could give you a painful bite. Or maybe just a nasty nip. If he continually does this maybe you need to go through the taming process again. Or maybe he just needs a little time to himself.

Good Luck!! Hope I helped. ^^

  7. A nip noise huh. Maybe there's something wrong with him, take him to the vet.

  8. When I first got my hamster, she used to do that to me all the time, she used to sqeal at me too. It is his way of telling you to go away and trying to scare you at the same time. He may not be used to handling. Hamsters do bite and I've been bitten many times but it was never serious so I doubt that that story you heard was true. Just relax and slowely get him used to being handled. I was nervouse also when I first started handling my hamster. Also don't try to handle them during the day as they are nocturnal and sleep during the day. The best time to handle them (or get them used to being handled) is at night.

  9. he/she deff sounds like it hase a respatory problem go and get it cheacked out they can die from it, most old rodents get it
