I have a summer concert coming up next week, and I have an oboe solo and a saxophone solo. I've done each solo a million times while we have band practice, and its always around all my friends. I do great, but my hands always shake during and after the solo. Its really embarrassing, and I want to figure out a way to make it stop. Any suggestions?

  1. my advice is that you should relax and not have to be nerves if you know your good take the chance you wont doubt

  2. it's just because you realize that the spotlight is on you, and that all eyes are watching you, the soloist.

    don't worry about it! it's a natural reflex. i shake even when i don't play a solo!

but to me, the butterflies are the best part of performing! that's how i know that this is what i should be doing.

  3. Just try to control yourself, and remember that if your hands shake, you won't do as well. I was a piano solo for many years, and I was ALWAYS nervous during my performances, and although my hands didn't shake, my piano teacher once told me that I always played better during my performances (when I was nervous), so I made sure I was nervous every time from then on!

    Hope this helped! :-)

  4. If you are standing in front of a lot of people EVERYONE is nervous no matter how many times they do it. They are lying if they say they aren't.

    So relax. It's normal.

If it was a huge problem you wouldn't be be asked to do it over and over again.

  5. I know how u feel cause one time I did a solo on my french horn and my hands and lips kinda shaked.maybe its because your nerves and just pretend at the concert that no one is around u.thats what I did
