  1. Stay away from plumbing pipes like your bath tub or shower, as well. Lightning has the ability to strike a house or near a house and impart an electrical charge to the metal pipes used for plumbing. If you're touching those pipes or anything connected to those pipes, that electrical charge has a path to you. This threat is not as great as it used to be, because PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is often used for indoor plumbing these days. If you are not sure what your pipes are made of, wait it out.

  2. The truth is, it is never safe to shower when there is thunder around because if it were to hit some kind of plumbing or anything nearby, you could be electrocuted because it travels through the wiring. So if there is thunder, wait until there is no more nearby before showering. I think you would kinda be considered a fool if you weren't afraid to shower during thunder, it's just too dangerous.

  3. Thunder follows lightning. And you never want to shower if a storm with lightning is nearby.

It's highly unlikely that your home will be struck by any form of lightning, but why take the risk? You don't even want to use a phone if lightning is present. In short, anything that conducts electricity (ie. wires and water) should be avoided. If you're

witnessing a lightning storm nearby.......wait! Do nothing! Be

    safe and not foolish, OK?

There are 3 types of lightning: in cloud, cloud to cloud and then cloud to ground. The last one is the dangerous type.

    Good luck!

  4. Unless you know your house has well-grounded plumbing, taking a shower in a thunderstorm is not the best idea.  You are right to be cautious.

Water pipes are excellent conductors of electricity, and tap water often has dissolved impurities that make it a better conductor of electricity as well.  Perhaps 10-20 people per year receive an electric shock through plumbing during a storm.  It is rarely fatal, but it certainly wouldn't be pleasant.

  5. Nothing to worry about thunder and taking a shower. Just take a quick shower. If you can do that. Or just wait till the storm stops. Like now its raining very hard. Thunder is so freaking loud.

  6. I've  never  heard  of   the  thunder  /  shower  fear   and

I  am  not  able  to  fathom  the  connection  .   .   .

    { there  is  No  relevancy  between  showering  and  thunder }

    Why  are  you  afraid ?

Maybe   if   you   could  explain  it   we  could  come  up  with  a  solution .

    But ,  sorry ,   I  just   don't   get     why  .   .  .

  7. Well thats the same with me but it depends n what your afraid

    of.

    But I am a Christian.

So, i know God WILL protect me and I know he won't let anything happen to me.

So, just try to think about that.

    [Edit:]

Also, when i read Darren E's message. That's nt really helping. Although it is possible. But,I don't think it happens too often. So no worries. Trust me. God WILL protect you.

  8. i have always heard that you can be struck by lightening if you shower during a storm but i duno.

  9. Wait until the thunder stops.

  10. It's not a completely irrational fear, as if your plumbing system uses copper pipe throughout, it's then a direct path to ground.  Step current and coronal current could indeed give you a shock if lightning *directly* hits your house's lines.  :O

That said, the odds of that are???  Not much at all.

The best way to protect yourself... what's your house's lightning control system?  A professionally installed lightning rod/wire system will ensure that the current follows a directed ground path away from your plumbing system.  That's probably the best you'll get.  Whether it's worth the expense, that's your call.

    Good luck!
