  1. Hi, I'm italian.. The best period is may-june and september.

You shouldn't go in july-august because it would be toooo hot... In autumn and spring it often rains and in winter it could be snowy :-)

    kisses from Italy!

  2. August is nice, but Milan is kind of deserted then and the only ppl u'll find are tourists... If u wanna live the real spirit of the city, I suggest you go in september/october, when the weather is still alright and all the shops and restaurants are open and the streets are crowded with Milanese ppl making haste to go to work, students and models... That's the real Milan! Plus Milan is amazing for Xmas shopping! December is also nice but the city centre is TOO crowded then, so I mantain sept/oct is the best period!

  3. August, we were there just a few years ago.

The weather is perfect . And Milano is the most

amazing City.....so much to cover .....it is good to

    spend one week just there.

  4. I would agree, that May/June or September and October.  I went mid July and it was very hot, most of the stores were closed during the weekend it haled pretty hard and it rained pretty hard.

I had a good trip, but I know it could had been better.

  5. I can't believe anyone seriously suggesting you visit Milan in August. In fact, all the reputable guidebooks make a point of saying that, if at all possible, you should avoid Italy altogether in August.

It's generally very hot in August (we've not had any serious heat waves this year, but last year it was regularly hitting 40°C / 104°F) and the humidity is often very high. That's bad enough if you're just sitting around, but tromping through city streets in that sort of weather is no fun at all. Also, August is the month when Italians head off on their holidays - normally to one of the Italian beach resorts, so towns are pretty vacant and things are often closed, there's not much atmosphere and you can run into practical problems seeing things.

In terms of personal comfort, it's far better to visit Italy either earlier (May or June) or later (September or October).
