Where, in Bavaria, can I get a job in a school teaching children English?

I live in Lindenberg, close to Lindau, and am bored at home.

I am a US citizen, and want to teach at a school, but do not know how to get a job here. Any thoughts from those who have moved to Germany, and work here?

  1. In Bavaria they have so many US Army Installations. Schools is there too. Why are you not looking there some job?

Look at the web go ogle, search for the areas, Vilseck, Hohenfels, Grafenwoehr.

  2. Do you already have a US teaching license? If so first try the German-American or English-language schools in the area. If not, it´s impossible!

  3. Hello,

I am from the UK, I work as a freelance English teacher for Berlitz.

Have a look in the city and you should be able to find private language schools or tutor services.

Working in a German school is near impossible - the best you could hope for is to be a language assistant.

My other advice to you would be to put an advert up - in the supermarket...etc...offering English lessons and let people come to you!

    Good luck

    xx

  4. Try private language shools, where adults are taught. They will usually prefer native speakers to German speakers as teacher.

You can google "Sprachenschule" together with "Lindau" or the town you live in.

  5. Go to www. usajobs.com and search. sometimes they advertise jobs for teachers overseas. Teaching German kids is out of the question, since it is very hard to become a teacher in Germany and you would have to able to speak German fluently. And even then, schools teach Oxford English, not American English.
