Question:

Where's a better place to give; Whangarei or Invercargill?

Both are located in extremes of New Zealand, Invercargill being at the tip of the South Island, Whangarei being near the tip of the North.

I'm told Invercargill is quite lifeless and boring, with not much to do, is Whangarei a similar story or is there a bit more going on? They both have a population of 50,000, so pretty much identical.

  1. Neither. They are both incredibly poo. Live in Auckland!

  2. To heck with it; emigrate to where it's really at: County Tyrone, in Ireland!

  3. well the biggest difference would be the climate.

Whangarei being at the Northern extreme has a very mild winter climate and a nice hot summer. Meanwhile Invercargill can get howling southerlies on a summers day and it has a much higher annual rainfall.

other things to consider are job opportunities and whats on offer nearby.

Invercargill: close to Te Anau, Stewart island, Milford sound, Tuatapere for the humpridge track. Dunedin is about 2.5 hours away

Whanagarei: close to bay of islands, coromandel and Auckland is 2.25 hours away.

Job opportunities would be similar I guess but of course if you were a farmer the money to be made would be on a south land farm.

I would think Invercargill would be cheaper to live in too

  4. YA AUCKLAND ROCKS

  5. whangarei its nice up there nothing like invercargill that place is a **** hole!!! i live not far from invers in wanaka but went on holiday to whangarei and loved it! its not far from pihia and the bay of islands! its a much nicer scene up there compared to yuky brown dull cold invercargill.
