I have a house for sale 1200 miles away and I have to constantly email my realtor for updates, did you show the house, anyone interested?. Unless I make the effort she never keeps me informed. Is it just because there is nothing to report because everything has stopped in Fl or am I just being a pain in the *** by requesting her keep me up to date, even if there is nothing to report.

  1. In my opinion.....

    She is working for you.

If you want an update you should get one anytime you want.

A good Realtor keeps you updated on the interest and showings of the house at min. once a week. And has an open house once or twice a week.

  2. I think you are just having communication problems.

Ask her if the MLS has a service where they can automatically send you an e-mail whenever the property has been shown.  My area has this service and sellers LOVE it.

Understand that Florida is a very, very tough market right now.

Ask her to send you a WEEKLY e-mail on a particular day, letting you know what is going on.  That will let her know what you expect, you'll know when to expect it.

But if you are asking her to give you daily updates, especially if the house isn't being shown, is a little nutty.

Keep in mind that the LISTING agent RARELY shows the house, it's usually the buyer's agent that finds it and brings the buyer.

  3. if there is nothing to report then you are a pain relax she/he will call when there is something to say

  4. I report to all of my clients once a week, either by phone call or email.  They also receive an automated update on the market each week.  So I'd say you have an agent who isn't working in your best interests. I know the market is slow, especially in Florida, but it's no excuse not to communicate on a regular basis with your clients.
