Question:

Where's the Indignation?

The Democrats approved pulling troops from Iraq and ending the War. They felt that too much money was being fraudulently wasted in this War, did not think the War was based on truthfulness, and did not want any other American or Iraqi casualties. Since the Surge was deemed successful, they felt it is time to pull out of Iraq.

They were lambasted by Republicans for this stance. They called Democrats "quitters," "losers," and "cowards." Fox News pressed the point and even the President was contemptuous of the Democrats' call for an end to the conflict.

Now that an election is near and President Bush is backing the Republican Cause, President Bush has made a new pact with the Iraqi government, making a "timeline,"...another Democratic idea that was contemptuously ridiculed...for leaving Iraq.

Recalling the Republican reaction to the Democratic idea..is President Bush a quitter, a loser, a coward? Where is the indignation over the Timeline to leave Iraq? Where is the Republican anger, now that the Democratic idea has been taken over by their own party? Or is their anger and indignation only a political ploy?

  2. The situation now is not the same as the situation two years ago.  While I don't approve of ever saying exactly when our last combat troops leave, the fact that the Iraq army can handle some operations on its own is a good sign that it is more practical to discuss such options.

  3. It the same ol' same ol' from the Republican spin doctors' testing the waters machine, they're always for or against something until it politically expedient to claim success or public approval!

  4. Because Bush actually said to the public that if the Iraqi government wanted us to leave, we would, he is now stuck with making some sort of withdrawal deal.

The Iraqi's have said they want us to start pulling out. They wanted a 16 month time table but Bush didn't like that idea. The solution they have come up with is what we have now.

Of course there are loads of conditions on that withdrawal! If, in the opinion of the administration, the Iraqis are not able to handle their own security, all bets are off on any timeline.
