If you like seafood I can recommend Barnacle Bills on the Esplanade. I had many a   good  meal there and I  used to  suggest it to   hotel  guests  when I worked as a  receptionist.

I went to a restaurant called 'Two Fish' on the esplanade.  It has a really pretty outlook, the prices are fairly reasonable, and the food was great!  Fantastic seafood and the red emporer is to die for.

If you like Greek food, try the banquet at Fettas Greek Taverna. They've recently moved from Abbot Street to Grafton Street.

one of my favorite restaurants at home is the Hog's Breath Cafe, its just down from Cairns Central Shopping Centre on the corner of Shields and Sheridan Streets...

if you like Indian food, Marinades is really good as well...that is also on Spence Street, across the road from the Night Owl convenience store...

The Monsoon Grill near the Pier on the waterfront is nice, good food and a it has a really nice atmosphere being on the Marina...

im going home in a few weeks...cant wait to eat some good food again!!!

The "Raw Prawn" is delish!! they are on the Esplande.

If u are into seafood u have to have the seafood platter, we had a fresh crab with lurs that was the size the a dinner plate!!

check out the Korean bbq restaurant in 34 Lake street (Palm Court). it's fantastic and resonably priced.

also a great lunch place is a small phillipino food place near sheridan st/florence st. (near crazy clarks)
