Question:

Where's the best place to learn to surf in europe? Somewhere warm, not too crowded, cheap and interesting!

Hey all,

Just wondering what are people's thoughts on this? I'm looking for somewhere that would be still quite interesting if the swell was flat...probably going to take a full weeks holiday so don't want to get too bored if the sea doesn't act up!

I've got a full, clean driving license as well so should be able to rent a car if need be...

Cheapness isn't the most vital part, but would like to think i could get things a bit cheaper than holiday surf packages by organising things myself....

Cheers for any replies!!

  1. My friend goes to Fuerterventura for surfing .... and its hot. Have a good holiday.

  2. france

  3. Strand Hill, Sligo, Ireland. Weather not bad and waves non stop.

  4. have a look at surfersvillage.com they list surf camps all over they will teach ya to surf and if it all goes flat then they have other sports to do .... and most or all are run buy good people who mainly do it for the sport not the money ... have fun .. see ya in the green room

  5. I've been to france, Biarritz, Hossegor, Anglet.....it's crowded.....so so to very good spots......warm, but sooo crowded it's ridiculous.

You can cross the border to Spain....a one to, say, three hour drive, to Bilbao-Mundaka.....much less crowded, warm, some interesting spots.....and you got madrid...a great city full of attractions.

    Plus it's REALLY cheap!...

    Have fun.

  6. road trip! southern france through spain down to portugal. check the surf report at internet cafes. Stay wherever the best waves are or go on your own search to escape the crowd. I love the freedom of a road trip search for waves. For me here in northern california, the ideal road trip goes from San Francisco down to Ensenada, Mexico. When I go visit family in Belgium, I'll do a road trip down the coast of France. Cheers!
