  1. Front row center, unless the placement of AV equipment or the podium will block my view of the blackboard.

I'm really nearsighted and for some reason I'm more alert if I'm not in the middle surrounded by a lot of people.

  2. about in the middle

  3. If you are a good student and/or nearsighted, sit up front.

  4. Assuming your talking about the first day or like middle or high school.  I personally was always really self concious and scared the first day. No matter who I knew. Always going into a class with a different group of people is nerve racking. I always just picked pretty much the first seat a saw. So usually for me it was the first next to the door lol.

I would say just not too far back, since the first day there is probably stuff you need to know.

  5. There is no "best" place to sit; it depends on what you want or prefer.

If you can (it´s not as if everybody else will wait until you made your choice), try to sit rather in the center of the classroom as it combines several advantages: you can be very active if you want but you have people around you so you can take a couple of minutes "off" in a lesson without immediately losing track of what is going on (happens easier in the back of the room).

If you´re easily distracted, sit in the front. If you can´t see well, sit somewhere in the front as well. Make sure you can read anything written on the board from your place, make sure you can see the teacher and hear everything being said.
