Where's the best place to visit in Ireland for a weekend?

Belfast if you include Northern Ireland.

If it's just the Republic I'd say Dublin or Cork.

Belfast has great atmosphere, sights and nightlife. I was quite dissapointed with Dublin

Dublin is ok if you like lots of drinking, but you sound quite cultured. Obviously Belfast is very interesting. Why not check out Londonderry, it is a walled city and very interesting. Watch out if you are travelling in and around St. Pats, it can get a bit hectic!

i was rather disappointed with dublin when i visited, but i hear belfast is very nice. also county clare + galway are very beautiful.
