I need to furnish my college apartment, but don't have much money to do so. What are some good places to shop that are inexpensive. I also desperately need bedding, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. :)

  1. well depends where you are, the area , and your budget. look around town and do a shopping hunt. good luck

  2. Go to IKEA.

  3. Thrift shops, like Goodwill, and the Salvation Army, are great sources for cheap household stuff (and quite often really cool, unique stuff!). Target, IKEA, Kmart, Walmart... if you want cheap but new! Good luck!

  4. Ikea, second hand stores, Walmart, consignment shops, furniture discount stores in your area, ask friends or family members if they are getting rid of anything, flea markets, classifieds, ebay... there are tons of places, you just have to look.

  5. For interesting pieces I check out consignment shops. For bedding I like Marshall's, T.J Maxx or Homegoods, they're all owned by the same corp. so have similiar stuff. Ikea is always good if you like modern they also carry bedding. Most important, have fun with decorating and be adventurous. Take old pieces and paint them fun colors. Let your apt. be a reflection of your personality.

  6. I say go to the salvation army, I'm not kidding you can find some great things! Also check out:

    ikea.com

    craigslist.org

    Hope that helps!

  7. well in our area we have a place called "bargin barn" try 2nd hand .... craigslist... or a free cycle website...just post up what you need..

  8. 'Ikea' has great stuff!

You can shop in-store or on-line.

  9. Marshall's Home Goods offers some bargains, but you really need to look hard.  I think Target and Walmart  both offer great values, too.

  10. My best guess would be IKEA or Target. Both have really cool stuff.

  11. I would go talk to land lords and different apartments.  My husband runs a complex and you wouldnt believe the stuff people leave behind.  There was a g*y couple that got rid of a really nice couch because they got a new one.  It looked brand new.

  12. Overstock.com has some great bargains.  Pay attention though and buy a brand that you know and read customer reviews - in addition to the good stuff, they have some real trash sold through this site.

For furniture go used - Even good furniture used sells for about 80% off of retail.  Be patient, stick to solid brands like Ethan Allen, Henredon, Baker, Stickley and you will do well.

For kitchen wares - hit you local goodwill/salvation army store.  You may even be able to find window treatments here at amazing bargains.
