Question:

Where's the respect?

Can't we respect people while disagreeing with their views? I am an Obama supporter who thinks McCain is wrong for our country, but that does not mean I think all McCain supporters are bad people.

Why is there so much vitriol in this section? Aren't we interested in politics because we're interested in people? That's why we get involved isn't it? Because we value one another and want to see our best interests served?

It's baffling to me that personal insults are more common on here than honest discussion. From both liberals and conservatives.

Compromise is progress. Hate does nothing.

I mean... am I alone in thinking this?

  1. I agree... I think that palin wasnt the best choice for mccain and i instantly got a lot of bashing from supporters saying i wasnt informed and i didnt listen to politics when i researched her... Is it ok to state that i im not crazy about mccain without being bashed by people... Am i not intitled to an opinion without being called misinformed and other names... Both candidates deserve respect just as we deserve respect for favoring them...

  2. "Can't we respect people while disagreeing with their views?"

    Individualy: yes.

All of us: not over night.

  3. you are not alone and i hope obama wins also.

  4. I don't trust Obama but it is alright if you do.  We all have a right to our opinions.

  5. No, Your not. But politics is a very hot subject for people, and so when they read something they disagree with or the really upsets them, its common for people to turn to personal attacks because they cant focus on just the facts and debate like mature reasonable people because they are too pasionate. I find myself getting this way a lot but i have to try and catch myself cause i know calling someone stupid isnt gonna help them see my point of view.

  6. No you are not alone.  But it is my personal opinion that there are more Democrats that share this view (which also happens to be Obama's view) than there are Republicans who share it.  Although, we mustn't forget the PUMA's (sigh)

  7. I think Obama is horrible.  You seem nice though.

  8. Compromise is progress? Then you should vote for McCain and Palin. They reach across the parties to get things done. Barack doesn't do that.

  9. You are a good American!

Many Americans see several legitimate flaws in the Obama candidacy ...some are particularly alarming ...critique and criticism is inevitable and quite necessary for electing someoe to be Leader of America and the FreeWorld at large.

Barack Hussein Obama is a "willing" 20 year member of TUCC (the moral equilvalent of the KKK) ....and a direct disciple of Jeremiah Wright - Anti-American, Racist, Heretic, Black-Supremacist.

    Those are the FACTS!

    McCain/Palin    2008

  10. It is hard sometimes when one is passionate about such subjects to refrain from insults.  Personally, I feel such frustration that the person I am talking to just doesn't know the facts. I think I insult the candidates more than the people I talk to, but that makes my point a little less valid in the end.

I agree with you that McCain isn't right for this country, but Obama isn't the answer either.  I am too old to vote for the lesser of two evils when they are both evil in their own way.

I don't agree that compromise is the answer, because you are asking people to compromise their beliefs, which isn't right. But hate in fact does nothing positive or productive.
