  2. It is known in the Old Testament/ancient times as Rabat Amman, Rabat Amon, or Rabat Ammon -- stronghold of the Ammonites.  In the first century it was a city of the Decapolis known as Philadelphia.  Modern Amman does not do justice to the city's super-interesting history.

  3. Amman is the Capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It didnt come from anywhere and has existed for centuries.

    It is close to the the river Jordan where Jesus was baptized and the kingsway which the Romans used to enter the Middle East and 1 hour away from the Dead Sea.

  4. Amman is the capital of Jordan.  It's a city, and didn't come from anywhere.

    And it has one of the most beautiful mosques in the world.
