  1. In order to legally work for a local establishment you will need to get a work permit (for 14 and 15 year olds)... check this page out: http://www.champaign.org/permits_and_cod...

There are other options though, such as: babysitting, petsitting, dog walking, housesitting, lawncare, garage and attic cleaning, personal shopping, etc. You can ask for straight cash with any of those. Have you considered doing some volunteer work as well... many volunteer oppurtunities are available and in many cases you receive nice perks for helping out, such as: free swimming, free cooking classes, free gym passes, free meals, etc.

  2. If you wanted to be independent, you'd be out there hustlin' instead of on Yahoo Answers, looking for other people's help. Check the want ads. Hit the street and look for "Help Wanted" signs. Wear out some shoe leather.

  3. Oh my gosh, I'm seriously in the exact same situation right now.

At 14, I think we need permits to get a real job, and we can't have certain jobs, legally, at our age. I think it all depends on the establishment. Most places won't hire people this young.

I think our best bet is to find an internship that pays, but most of those positions are filled by now.

    Otherwise, a paper route, perhaps.

Or maybe you could be a bus boy if you can find a place to hire you.

You could always baby sit or mow lawns for neighbors.

Some places, I've heard, like Kumon Tutoring Center, hire people to grade their papers, or something like that. Like a small job. But those kinds of jobs seem to be hard to find.

I think you may have to wait until next year, and I probably will, too.

Either way, good luck in your job search.

  4. its gonna be hard because you are 14 but get a working permit from your school and try snagajob.com

  5. I believe you need a workers permit.  You can't get a job until you are 16.  I think a permit is only allowed for 15 also.  Maybe cut your neighbors lawn or clean pools.
