Sadly, the only underwater digital camera that is currently is exspensive and the least exspensive model is $208....it is made by Olympus and ( Model: SW 790).....it is worth it though it takes great pictures with great quality.....the newer model is the SW 850 and it is also nice. In addition to water proof it is also shock proof, dust proof, and freeze proof. The newer model is $299 (the SW 790 is only shock proof and waterproof) They are both great cameras and are worth the money.....you can purchase them at Circuit City or Best Buy**

Most waterproof underwater digital cameras aren't that good of a camera. They are solid performers and built to seal out water, but the image quality is not that great compared to regular cameras. I think if you want the best images, you would have to spend some money.

I would recommend buying a good point-and-shoot camera, and then buy the underwater casing for that camera. The case can sometimes be just as expensive as the camera itself! So basically you might have to spend $200 on a camera, and then spend and additional $200 on the waterproof case.

You might want to look at the Canon PowerShot A720IS. I believe it sells for less about $200 at the big box retailers, and there is also an underwater case available. I've included the links below.
