Question:

Where Can I Get This Car Part?

I own a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe. When I bought it two years ago, the head was slightly rusted but not that obvious. Now, two years later, my hood looks in horrible condition. I would say about 30% of the hood is covered in rust and it ruins the image of my car. I wanted to know where I could get my hands on a hood, reasonably priced. I've been told to go by a nearby junkyard but even there they are $200 and not even painted.

My car is black so it shouldn't be that hard to find a 01 black cavalier hood. If anyone knows of any websites or junkyards nor Toledo,Ohio that has a hood that I am looking for, that would be so awesome!

Again, preferably a good price and already painted black.

Thanks in advance!!

  1. Hi, I live in Fremont, Oh about 30 miles South East of you. There is a yard in Sandusky right off of Route 2 (Navarre Ave or Airport Highway depending on where you are in T-town) on St Rt 101 called U-Pull-It Auto Parts. I go there all the time for parts. They might not have a black hood for you but they won't charge you $200 either. The hood I bought for my Ranger was $75 on a full price day. They often have 1/2 price Saturdays. They are a division of Fireside Auto Services in Bellvue, Oh.  The web sites are:

    www.upullitautoparts.com   Phone#-toll free (877) U PULL IT.

                     and

    www.firesideautoservices.com   Phone#-(419) 483-2653

If you really can't find what you need in Toledo, the only other thing I can think of would be to take a ride down to Crestline, Oh. That whole town is basically made of salvage yards for both newer cars and old. That's down on U.S. Rte.30 between Upper Sandusky and Mansfield. To get there from Toledo You just take I-75 south to exit 156 in Findlay ( that's St Rt 15) you take that road to Upper Sandusky and take the bypass around town. At the end of the bypass you will see an exit for US Rt 30 East (the sign probably says Bucyrus on it). Take that exit and go about 30 miles East and you will be in Crestline.

Good luck and I hope this helps you

  2. Try BFGoodwrench.com, they sell replacement GM parts.Or google search for cavalier or J body swapmeets. They are a great place to find cheap parts and Ohio is a hot bead for Chevys. And it would be a good idea to get that head cleaned up. A machine shop can do it for $25 - $50.

  3. Try this website for used parts...Car-Parts.com (Don't forget the hyphen in between)
