Question:

Where Can I find a Eco-Friendly, Fair Trade Prom Dress?

I'm in grade 12, and I am determined to find a prom dress for my prom coming up in June that was made fairly, and with eco-friendly materials (like hemp or bamboo). However, this is proving itself to be very difficult..

The closest major city I live near is Toronto, Canada....If you know where I can locate a fairly made prom dress, that would be stellar, thank you!!!

  1. Well a dress from a resale shop would solve most of your problems.  Check consigment shops, they usually have higher end goods.

You aren't profiting someone who is making money off someone elses brow, rather a local shop keeper and local residents. Plus, you are resuing it.

  2. Well, I love your idea, and I love a challenge!  lol   I found some, however, these are obscenely expensive!  I had to think outside of the box. I gooled eco-friendly celebrities, & went from there. ;)

less expensive & as seen on the runway at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week!!

Then, I started to think.........hmmm........what about a bridesmaid dress?  Then, I found these (much less expensive) gowns for bridesmaids & other special events!

I hope one of these links will help, or at least give you some ideas.  Enjoy your prom!   :)

  3. Ah it is a tough question that I find very hard to answer. However, if you are able to buy a used prom dress, it would play a big part in reducing the workload of the earth too~! Anyways, I apologize for not being able to find the answer of your question but my answer here is mainly to say Thank You for thinking about helping the ecosystem, even for the day of your prom  :D

  4. Seeing as how nobody has answered and this question has been up for a while...

What are you worrying about?  Just go buy a dress that looks nice.  It's already on the shelf, someone is going to use it, it might as well be you.

How brainwashed are you that you think maybe by buying a hemp dress you'll have any real impact on anything?  And what is it going to look like?  Is your prom date going to be embarassed by your appearance?

Jeeze, just go get a nice looking dress and have some fun already.  If it wasn't made in China then it is likely 'fairly' made.  Buy American if you can - Americans treat their workers better than any other country.
