I already posted this before but didnt get much answers, so here I go again....Our close family friend is suffering for retinal detachment(http://www.retinaphysicians.com/vrs-cond). Being an immigrant she can neither afford insurance or the surgery itself. Where could I look for funding or something of that sort?

  1. Talk to the doctor who may do the surgery and he or she can give you that information. They are always willing to help someone who can't afford it.

  2. I don't know what being an immigrant has to do with ability to pay, unless we're talking about illegal immigration. I know many immigrants that manage to make a good living. However, she can try asking her church for help.

  3. Well i know where she can sign up for a plan that allows her to get pay discounted feed. Vision coverage is included in that, as well as health, dental discounts. It is not insurance but a medical/dental discount plan. It allows you to get discounts for dental, vision, chiropractic, prescription and physician visits and it does include orthodontics. The plans start at $19.95 for the entire household regardless of relation and you can start to use it as soon as you sign up. The dental discounts are up to 80% depending on your treatment, as well as decent discounts on vison treatment. If you have any other questions about the plan you can email me. If you would like me to, I could check the participating dentists in your area, but I would need a zip code or address. Let me know! Good Luck..

    The website is http://www.MyBenefitsPlus.com/nicolec

    My email is dental_girl@scentfuldesigns.com

  4. Do you live in the U.S? If so, check with your State Medicaid Dept to

see what your friend is eligible for. Call a hospital that does that type

of surgery to find out what their payment policy is. There must be a department of immigration there that can advise you.

My experience has been that the immigrants get medical bills and the cost of an interpreter paid for, while the citizens who pay the taxes, go without.

  5. I shall try to answer this question as honest as possible - alright.

she must apply for public assistance or as many calls it "welfare"

her being a immigrant she should not have any problem at all.

also the insurance plan she chose should do the surgery right away!

I pray for her speedy recovery and wellness!

    Peace
