Where Can an 11 and 12 year old volunteer at an Animal Shelter?

Pobably not..liability considerations but if an adult were to stay with them it could happen.  Call the animal shelters in your area and inquire.  Just expressing an interest might create an opening in a couple of years.  Thank you for your interest.  I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and sometimes young people would accompany their parents but I do not know the ages.

I just googled this info.....  I don't live in NY but, our local animal shelters are always looking for people of ALL ages that would be willing to walk the dogs and play with them a while each day as well as other various duties.  The dogs really need excercise and to not feel lonely...need attention or they go into depression or gain bad habits.    good luck!  :)

Sorry but in california you can't. I am the volunteer coordinator at a shelter and you have to be 18 .18 now applies to the Humane Society also.

I tried to volunteer at an animal shelter when I was 13 and usually they will not accept anyone under 18.  They also require health insurance.
