Vetinary school that I could get into. I have about a 3.0 GPA with a bunch of extraculicurs and 2 teacher reccomendations.

I stilll have 2 years left of high school and will probably have an average GPA senior year of 3.4-3.5.

Just list as many as you can think of. If I can't get into any of them then just list the one im closest of getting into.

Thanks

  1. You need to start with a pre-veterinary program. There are only 28 veterinary schools in the USA, and competition is very stiff (even more difficult than getting into medical school because it is so limited). If you are interested in getting into one, you need to plan on having a stellar resume when you apply after undergraduate studies, and you need to also be willing to take out a lot of loans; they are as expensive as going to medical school. Start by looking at the biology or pre-med programs at collages in your area, since these can generally be considered pre-vet as well. Then, check which veterinary schools are closest to you and which you would like to attend, so you can make sure you take all the pre-requisite classes when you attend your undergraduate university.

This site has listings for both pre-vet and vet programs, so just search your state and surrounding states: http://www.a2zcolleges.com/veterinary_sc...

Many vet schools also require that you take a GRE or VMCAS test, and also require a good amount of experience, so be sure to study hard while at your undergraduate university and get summer jobs or internships with veterinarians.

Also, if you are planning to apply, remember that you will need good grammar and spelling, so hopefully you can produce papers that have better spelling than your question. If you need tutoring, don't be afraid to get it, and also do your best to take AP classes when available in high school to decrease the overall courses you need to take in undergrad. This can save you a lot of money in the long run if it means you can get out a semester or a year early and get started quickly on your DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). Your high school transcript will have little to do with getting your graduate degree, but your current GPA can help you get into a good pre-vet program. Plan on getting at least a 3.7 GPA in college for when you apply to veterinary medical school.

If all of this looks overwhelming, you may also want to consider becoming a veterinary technician instead of a full veterinarian.
