Where Do Butterflies Go After Sunset? - UK Question.?

Hello.My friend has many butterflies fluttering around in her very large garden during the day. Most of these butterflies are of the common variety for Lincolnshire. However,my friend wants to know where do butterflies go after sunset as they are not to be found in any part of her large garden.This has puzzled her for a while and I said I would ask you fine people on-line for some help!

I'm betting if you went out there with a torch you'd find them, just quietly hanging in amongst the leaves.
