  1. a caper is the bud of a schrub that grows in the mediterranean (sp?) region.  It is picked and pickled.  I don't know if they can be grown in the U.S. or what the name of the schrub is - I just love to cook with them.


  2. Capers are unripened flower buds of a prickly perennial plant native to the Mediterranean.   They are dried and pickled, similar to green olives.  Commonly used in salads, dressings and vegetables.  I don't think you can grow them here.

  3. It is a small seed off a plant that comes from the Mediterranean area.

    It appears that it can be grown outside of that area if my source is indeed correct.

  4. They are grown in this mysterious substance called "soil"
