Where Shane Doan could be headed if not Phoenix Coyotes -NHL Special Part 2
With another fantastic 50 point (22 goals, 28 assists) season, Shane Doan proved that at the age of 35, he is still outperforming a majority of the players in the National Hockey League (NHL) today.
Doan’s performance in the playoffs is also worth mentioning since he put up amazingly 41 minutes in penalty time in just 16 games, which was just seven minutes less than his entire season total. It just goes to show how valuable of a player he really is
for Phoenix.
Vancouver Canucks
Vancouver, without a doubt, could use the physical play and determination of a player like Shane Doan. They are going to be freeing up some salary cap space with veteran goalie, Roberto Luongo, leaving the scene, but there have been no reports on Canucks
contacting him as of yet.
Doan himself is a Canadian native and would be a great addition on to the Vancouver club with Ryan Kesler on his side. He could provide a unique veteran leadership to the Canucks team and easy the load on the Sedin twins, Henrik and Daniel.
Pittsburgh Penguins
With the loss of Jordan Staal, Pittsburgh Penguins can put Shane Doan to use on their roster. They wanted to give Staal a long term deal but can settle with Doan for much less and get much more out of him in the long run.
Playing with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will just make the Penguins club even greater than they already are and provide that veteran experience and wisdom the Pittsburgh team sometimes needs when the situation gets hectic.
Playing with Pascal Dupuis and Matt Cooke as well would also create a offensive mechanism that the greatest would not be able to be along with provide exceptional physical play, something Pittsburgh lacks at times.
Steve Sullivan, the Penguins left winger, left the Pittsburgh team and coincidentally, signed on with Phoenix Coyotes. He was a left winger, which would put Shane Doan in his place with Sidney Crosby and compensate Pittsburgh for their free agency loss in
an unimaginable way.
Los Angeles Kings
Since players on the Los Angeles Kings squad think that they are all well and secured in their position, adding Shane Doan will make them work for it. The biggest issue with winning a Stanley Cup is defending it and most, if not all teams are just too lazy
to do so.
Shane Doan would provide that leadership, but ultimately, it would be weird joining the club the Phoenix Coyotes had such a bitter rivalry with over the playoffs.
