First check with the college to see if they have on-campus jobs.  There may be benefits in addition to the pay, such as free parking and even tuition discounts.  You also may be able to schedule your shifts so they complement your class schedule and that reduces commuting.

Almost every business in the city has a help wanted sign outside.  

Also check with the attractions, such as the aquarium, zoo, parks, and museums.
