What to know for first time traveler to the islands?

I'm not sure about the Carambola.  The Buccaneer had good ratings I believe when I went for our honeymoon.  We did drive by there and at the time it was pink and looked like a large motel.  Its in a good location, being close to the city.  We stayed at the Casino.  It is more remote and quieter, you need a rental car.  The rooms were the typical beach style but had a small kitchenette.  We purchased a blender at K-mart along with some cheap Cruzan and made our own drinks.

If you really want to stay some where nice in St croix try this place. Divi Carina Resort Here is the link. We used to live on St Croix and we would go to this place for a nice weekend away from home.

The Buccaneer Hotel is a much nicer resort and located on the east end of the island. Has more amenities.

I would read the all the reviews on tripadvisor.com and decide which resort is for you. I don't know your budget and Buccaneer Resort is expensive. Here is a link

Think about renting a car while you are on island. A good way to explore the island. I think it's the only way to really see the island.

A must do on this island is to take a half day Buck Island Trip. You'll cruise through beautiful aquamarine and colbalt waters to this little island, where you can snorkel the underwater trail.

A sunset sail is always nice.
