  1. I don't know about other countries, but in the US Thoroughbreds are not typically branded.  There's no rule against it -- you just have to specify it when registering the horse if it's already been branded before that point.  Quite a few Quarter Horses are branded (either on the shoulder or hip), and the same rule applies to them.  Not sure about racing Arabs, but I've seen them freeze-branded on the neck.  A lip tatoo is the required method of identifying racehorses -- with a letter signifying their year of birth and numbers corresponding to their registration number.

  2. I would tatoo the lip, a vet should be able to do that. If you want to brand them you have to own your own brand, which is quite expensive.

  3. nevada/texas/nebraska

    both

  4. australian standardbreds are bronded on their neck under their mane

australian thoroughbreds are branded either on their shoulder or hindquarters

some also have lip tattoos, the best way is to just go over your horse with a fine tooth comb

  5. Any brand Has to be registered with the Livestock dept,

Now if your a breeder most will brand their horse In T,B s for race they will tattoo them when they run their first race, Not before,

If you want a brand you have have it made up and then make sure it's not already taken,

Like the guy said its not against the law

Now freeze brands are less hurtfull to the horse

    But the same rules apply
