Where am I from?

Hello, I'm a sixteen year old from London, in the UK currently wondering what my ethnic background is.

I am British, but I have always wondered if I have anything else in me as I do not look English.

My Mother's side of the family is extremly English looking all of my mother's family sport blonde hair and blue eyes, and I myself have always been the odd looking one out of my cousins.

My Father's family on the other hand are olive skinned, with dark hair and dark eyes and my Father has no living relatives so I am curious to know where his family come from.

Appearance wise, I am small in height, 4"11, average build, big bust, thick wavy dark brown hair, brown eyes and fairly dark olive skin.

I was wondering If you could provide me with information of what countries hold these characteristics, I have done some research and I think maybe I could be of an Italian Siclian background but I am not sure and would like to know if any other countries hold these physical characteristics.

  1. Your father's relatives do not need to be living for research..in fact, you would normally use documents that are MORE open, if they are not.  The first step is to 'document' his parents with such things as their death record.  That will lead you (normally) to where and when they were born..and this is where you will expect to find THEIR parents (unless adopted.. that always is possible).  Continue to do the same, until you reach one of them who was living prior to 1901, then start locating them in the census.  If there is an immigration from elsewhere, it will turn up somewhere in the process.  Since you are doing it anyway, you would want to find same records on mom's side.

Appearance is deceptive.  You CANNOT reliably say that you are Italian (Greek, Russian, etc) without valid records.

  2. your greek, that describes every greek person i know

  3. Girl, it would be easier to talk about yor ethnic origin if you set a couple of photos.

One´s features can tell us a lot about one´s genetic heritage.
