I asked my local pub if i could fundraise in their pub i wanted to get a load of us to get dressed up, my theme would be anything african weather it be peson, animal just anything african as the money will go towards a gap year in africa!

This i wanted to happen on what i would think the bussiest summer night of the year in my town 25th july.

But my idea was taken and twisted dates brought forward, changed charity and took all prizes from every food establisment in town now they wont hold another event so close. I was stung really but the money did go to charity (I Hope)so i'm not too mad, i just want my own event now.

So Im stuck !! Any ideas would be really appreciated as i think we will hold my event next year but i have to be careful not to share my ideas with my town.

  1. How about a mini-olympics? You could hold a torch lighting ceremony and hold collection at each of hte different lighting locations. Then, hold small athletic events like maybe avolleyball tournament, 100 meter dash, and mini triathalon (with biking, running, and swimming), and more of course. The only things you would have to pay for is reserving the location(s), refreshments, and advertising the event. You would make money off of refreshments, tickets, athlete entrance fees, donations, and maybe renting out booths or room for ads to local businesses.

It is just a suggestion, but it might be really fun.

  2. When I was in a church youth group eons ago, we used to hold an event entitled, "A Night in Old Italy." We set up our fellowship hall to look like a fancy restaurant; you know... table cloths, fine dining ware, a candle lit in the center. We also sold roses for the occassion. The idea was basically a way to provide loving couple with a cheeper means of fine dining and romance for the night. There was italian music playing in the background, three different italian meals to choose from, and our waiters and waitresses were dressed up to look like classy servers. It actually brought in quite a bit of money for our annual ski trip.
