Where and how can I buy an Echidna in sydney?

The name pretty much says it all. I really want to own a hedgehog, but they're illegal in Australia (or so I hear)

So an Echidna is the next best option.

Does anyone know where I can find one?

they are a protected animal as is most of the native Aussie animals. If you really want to get involved with them try volunteering at the local zoo or rescue places.

I don't think you can legally have pet echidna's, i think they're protected or something. I wouldn't want to have a pet echidna anyway, it's cruel to take native animals from their homes, even if they're bred in captivity it isn't right. They're by nature a wild animal.
