  1. Firstly write a formal complaint to the manager of the department. Then if you dont go any where, go through the Insurance Ombudsman service which is an external dispute resolution body that have the authority to deal with certain general insurance disputes.

  2. call your states department of insurance.

I am an insurance agent for a majr carrier.  what is the problem i may be able to give you some insight.

  3. go to google and click on finance.. www.finance.google.com and type in the name of whatever the company is.. once you click it, go to the bottom right corner, and it will list the management team for that company.. CFOs CEOs etc.. start firing off letters. when you write the letter, be sure to CC (send a copy to) the department of insurance in your state. 1) sending a letter to the CEO of the company will light a fire under someone for sure.. usually, there are designated teams of people who respond to "executive inquiries".. or, write to their counsel. additionally, depending on the insurance you are dealing with (car, home, health) you could also write to the BBB as well.

i work in insurance and have filed complaints myself in all different genres of insurance, and i know that the above method will get you some responses

  4. All you need to do is do an online search for your state + department of insurance.

Example: if you live in Florida then search for "Florida Department of Insurance".

Then all you have to do is file an online complaint or call the 800 number to speak with someone.

Also, you can try searching for the NAIC complaint ratio report. This is a report done by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners that shows how many complaints various insurance companies get.

I know that in one year they said something to the effect in one of their reports that the health insurance company Mega Life got 12 X the complaints of the state average.

Hope that this helps. Here is some more information about how to choose the best health insurance company:

  5. Insurance companies are governed by an insurance commissioner in individual states (may be called something different- but will be the same)- go the website for your state government and determine who the insurance authority is and request a complaint package. Good luck!

  6. The public insurance comission, will handle insurance fraud, but not service related issues...for that..just make your complaint to the better business bureau of your local city

  7. Well, a SERVICE complaint isn't going to get you far.  But any complaints would be filed with the company, and/or with your state insurance department.

The state insurance department isn't going to do anything, unless the law is being broken, or the contract isn't being honored.

  8. Get all your information together, along with a written statement, chronological if at all possible, names of the Ins people would be wonderful. Photocopy everything...DO NOT SEND ANY ORIGINALS. and sent to your Department of Insurance.  Depending on your state it might be the office of the Insurance Commissioner.. Check your phone book - Local State Offices - Insurance.....  That's what you want.  Give them a week or 2 to go through everything.  They usually send you a letter saying we've got it and we're reviewing it... case #, and who it's assigned to.  Don't let them off the hook.  Put it on your calendar and call that person every couple of weeks for an update.  Let them know that you are not going to go away.

    Good Luck

  9. Get the manager's manager's name.  That will light a fire under them.  If that doesn't work then go to your state's insurance department.
