Where and how can i get a student discount on laptops/software?

check out office max or office depot. these 2 retailers generally offer student editions with a student / teacher discount. otherwise google.

Apple like you said and most any other company.  The key is to talk to someone higher up than just the person working the phones.  I would go online to Alienware, Dell, Compaq for example and get ahold of someone higher up on the chain of command.  Tell them you will send proof you are in school.  You will get at least ten percent off if not more.  My mother was a teacher so I know Apple will do it.

well apple has their own store for education (SFE), where all students get a general discount. If you're going to college, some schools have their own special apple SFE (I got an amazing deal on mine from my school's store). As for software, apple will have that in the SFE, and colleges usually sell that themselves too. Just look around online
