I am so lost! I am 19 years old and i have no idea what i want to do for the rest of my life. i went to a university last year for sociology with the desire to become a high school teacher. Since then i lost that desire. In high school i loved student council. I was very good at managing a team to plan events like assemblies and food drives. I am very motivated i just hate school. I want to do some sort of career based education, like technical school. What are some careers that involve my strengths that i don't have to go to school for 5 years and pay 30,000 dollars?

  1. you said you like planning events? i would suggest for that you might want to look into a career in PR (public relations) because that degree can lead into a lot of event planning if you take it that route. Most PR degrees are from 4 year colleges though. Look up technicals schools in your area, and most of the websites should tell you what kind of programs they offer.

  2. Your best bet is to get a job.

You need to quit school until you are really sure why you are there.

Get an entry level job in a field that is interesting to you and see where it goes. Once you have found a job that fits, then think about school.

If you work and save some of your earnings you will also be able to pay for school once you go.

Here's a real tip (school guidance councilors never tell students this) those who go straight through school without working have real struggles landing jobs. Why?  Too much education and no experience makes one over priced and under prepared.

Good Luck in whatever you do!

  3. I would recomend taking your basic classes first like your math and writing and stuff and spend some time thinking about what you want to do and then go from there
