Where and when should i have my Engagement party ?

i just got engaged in July and have been waiting for my partners mum to get better after surgery. So its now time to set a date and place for our engagement party. any suggestions ?

my brother had his at his finances house it depends on how many guests or u could hire a hall or have it in a backyard

You really shouldn't have a party for yourself - it should be thrown for you by a friend or family member.

I got engaged at the end of July and we are having a small engagement party at my house in Sept, nothing fancy. I just wanted the extended families to get to know each other.  In my opinion when you have to save so much on the wedding, I would say don't blow a ton of money on an engagement party.
