  1. Hospital Corpsmen serve on ships in the ships' "H" Divisions. Some or most of those ships deploy to the Mediterranean, Pacific and Indian Oceans along with the Gulf from stateside ports. Some of the ships are forward-deployed and home-ported in Japan, Italy and Bahrain. Some Hospital Corpsmen go through training to obtain the Naval Enlisted Classification of HM-8404 (Field Medical Service Technician) and are deployed with units of the Fleet Marine Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan along with forward-deployed basing in Japan.
