  1. Backgrounds?  This is Drawing & Illustration.  If you know where and when (you didn't say which country you're in) then you should be able to apply directly to the local register office.  In the UK you can go to the Family Records Centre, or do what I did and do a three-day trial membership of Ancestry.com.  The Mormon Church has extensive records, but I don't know if they have marriage records.  I should think that other people on the Genealogy forum will have lots of tips, so do think of re-posting your question there.
