Question:

Where are all the pictures of native crayfish?

i want to be able to tell the difference between rusty crayfish and native ones, i can find a billion pictures of rustys but where are all the rest?, anyone know of any good sites?, i live in the midwest, and i don't want to get caught fishing with what I'm not suppose to be fishing with,

  1. I happened across this site a while ago. Check it out and see if it is of any help to you. Also look up  Orconectes virilis and Orconectes propinquus, those are the species impacted in Minnesota and surrounding areas.

  3. Go to Crawfishfarms on Yahoo groups. I have posted many pictures of local native crawfish on there in the picture section. Join the group, it is free. The largest crawfish I get are native and called Pacificus which are way larger than the oraconectus ( Not sure on the spelling.) The Pacificus are also called "Signal " crawfish. They are huge as you will see in the picture. Look for pictures posted by  tkept   Also I showed how I build my traps. They work great. Hope I have helped you.
