  1. I would say there was a mermaid magic movie out, but there isn't right now, is there?

Is there a new mermaid TV show?  Ahh, Crystal answered this...

I'm as baffled as you - I thought it a bit weird...

And no, the parents aren't teaching the difference.  Strange, cause I started when my kids were tiny and watching Tom and Jerry - had to teach them that hitting someone with a frying pain DOES cause serious pain - just so they'd never try it.

  2. Kids are watching way too much TV these days and are losing their grasp on reality.

  3. well...i saw this one on 43things.com/becomeamermaid or soemtin idk....idk what dreck is either lol...

  4. I really don't understand it. It is the main reason I don't venture into the mythology and folklore section.

It's been years since "Splash" was a popular movie, but I'm way out of touch with teen culture so I have no clue. Why would anyone want to be a mermaid anyway? I don't think they realize that if they were able to turn themselves into a mermaid they would immediately find themselves nothing but a figment of imaginations of teenage girls everywhere. Cause, you know, mermaids don't exist.

Edit - oh..... there's a show. Well that *proves* that mermaids exist then. I'm going to chuck my tv out the window at the first sign my child can't tell the difference between fantasy and real life. I wanted to be Nadia Comaneci when I was a girl, *but*

    1. I knew it would take things like practicing every day to get anywhere close.

    2. She didn't have a freakin' fish tail.

  5. They're most likely watching this TV show that started in Austrailia called H2O: Just Add Water.

"The show's premise revolves around three teenage girls facing everyday teen problems with an added twist: they're mermaids with powers over water."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H2O:_Just_A...

You know, just like all the teens who wanted to be witches and have powers like the sisters on "Charmed".

What I don't get is, where are the parents these days?  Why is today's youth not being taught the differences between fantasy/entertainment and reality?

  6. It's stupid isn't it.  Some show called H2O.  I've decided I'm ignoring their ignorance and not answering the question anymore.  It's asked a billion times a day.  Ok, not a billion but way too many.
