Where are good places to go if you are new to ottawa city?

i just arrived to study at carleton university, and i wanna get to know people and see whats good in this country

Start out at the Parliament Buildings, then go around the corner to the Mint and then to the Rideau Centre. There are several good museums in Ottawa and the Art Centre. For night life there is The Market where there are a lot of clubs to visit and lots of young people. But, be careful. There is the canal which is right beside the University and Dows Lake.
