I'm going for a long weekend in May. I'm a wheelchair user and the person I am spending the weekend with lives locally but is not a wheelchair user. It needs to be places I can visit unassisted as my friend is unable to help me manuever my chair.

  1. The museum is awesome. So is the palace.

  2. The Golden Triangle of Art:

*El Prado museum. I could spend hours watching the paintings by Tiziano, Velazquez or Goya. As a matter of fact, I've done it.

*Another great museum is Queen Sofia Center of Art. Dedicated to modern art.

*Thyssen-Bornemisza museum, with the private collection of the Thyssen family.

Also the royal palace in Plaza de Oriente.

And, of course, a relaxing visit to the "Buen Retiro" park.

  3. If you like art, I highly recommend the Reina Sofia. It has a glass elevator, and some very famous works of modern art.

I'm pretty sure I recall the Prado having ramps.

You will also enjoy the large beautiful city park.

I hope you have a great trip!
