  1.      I have checked out several of Steve's spots this season, and the fishing has always been good on his advice. San Luis Pass is an awesome spot for wade fishing - the grasses there are beautiful redfish territory. Along with trying some of the spots already mentioned, I suggest trying the d**e at Texas City. I've been going down there a lot lately, and the fishing can be pretty good during good conditions. The benefits are that it is a shorter drive from Houston, it is extremely easy to access (you fish five feet from your car), and you are able to reach deeper waters from far out on the d**e. There are also two or three bait-camp-bars along the length of the d**e, but I have had so much luck with my casting net that I haven't had to buy much bait. If you sight-cast with a net along the side of the d**e, you can bring in mud minnows for live bait fishing. Fish these along the bottom for flounder, or free-floating for other species. I have also found some shrimp out in the shallow side. The nets pay for themselves pretty quickly with all the free bait, and you can't get better quality live bait.

  2. Head 60 miles towards the Gulf of Mexico, either Galveston, Freeport, or even up near Sabine Pass. Surf fish the coastlines, wade fish the bays, fish off of the many jetties to choose from or pier's, deep sea fish for lot's of different fish species trolling offshore. Feel free to email me for more info, I fished the Gulf coast for over 30yrs and still get back down that way every couple of years. 40yrs exp.

  3. the first poster is correct, but you can also fish in baytown, kemah, and other surrounding bays that are closer to houston area.
