Where are must see places in Cancun, Mexico?

I am going on Spring Break next year with my friend and his parents and I wanted to know some must see places in Cancun. Any ideas?

If you use Cancun as a base you can get out to the Mayan Ruins of Tulum up the coast. Close by there is also Chichen Itza and Uxmal (other ruins) for something different head down the coast to Belize and see a quite un ique corner of 'Creole' Central America. Alternatively you can head to Playa Del Carmen and just 'party' in a more traditional Mexican Style than you can get in Cancun.

Go to Xel-ha and Escaret. The trip will be more then worth it if you go to these two places.
