Okay. I'm desperate. I recently moved and need to get a driver's license for my new state and need these documents. I can't remember where I thought to put them. Just name off anywhere you think someone might keep these items. Thanks!

  1. Why not just get them replaced?  It's pretty simple.

Call the county recorder's office of the county you were born in.  Request a certified copy of your birth certificate.  There will be a charge, it's usually just a few bucks.

Contact Social Security at www.ssa.gov (see link below) for a replacement card.

Btw, I keep my important documents in a file cabinet.

  2. In a safe place.

OK, sorry, how about your work bag/briefcase, handbag, kitchen drawer, knicker drawer, tucked into a large book.  Did you need them for any of the paperwork done with regard to your move?  With HR?  Are they in a different handbag from your everyday one?

  3. Filling cabinet, safe box, folders, with other random papers, desk drawers. At your parents.
