Where are some good horse back riding centers that i can go to that dont cost very much?

Im looking for a good horse back riding center that isn't too expensive. Ive always loved horses and it would be great to find a place where i could ride!

  1. You need to check you local phone directory or the internet to find riding schools in your area.

    I'm sorry to say that, as far as horses go, cheaper is not always better.  Riding schools that are much cheaper than average tend to be badly run and use horses that are not appropriate for learners.

    The main thing is to make sure that that the riding school is approved by some society - here in Great britain most riding schools are appovd by The British Horse Society or the Association of British Riding Schools, I don't know what the relevnt associations would be in the USA.

    A school that is approved in this way has been inspected and the quality of the teaching has been assessed to be of a good level.

    Unfortunately riding lessons can be expensive.  You can pay anything from £20 to £45 ($40-$90) for an hour's private lesson and £15 - £30 ($30 - $60) for a group lesson, depending on how well qualified the instructor is.

    When I started learning (aged about 12) my parents could not afford to pay for me to have lessons so I got a paper round and earnt the money myself.  The money wasn't enough to fund a weekly lesson so I went every other week instead - perhaps this is something you could consider.
