  1. i would recommend Lismore or Ballina as it is very child friendly and minutes from Byron Bay, we visited in 99 and were so impressed we moved there in 2001 as it is a great place to raise a family

  2. What about Batemans Bay or Ulladulla.

In Ulladulla theres a caravan park with nice cabins that specialise in familes with loads of different kids activities http://www.beachhaven.com.au/ I havent stayed there but it sounds really good.

In Batemans Bay theres a BIG 4 Easts River Holiday park with gorgeous cabins right on the bay.

Its only about  40min drive between the two and both are right on the beach. Ideal for families.

Have you thought about going to Melbourne? The kids would love it. There's a place called Sunshine which it just past Footscray, we stayed at Ashley Gardens Holiday Village, again beautiful cabins, pool, kids room and the bus stop is right out front which them links up with the trams.

From there you can go up to Ballarat and Sovereign Hill (kids will love it there) also visit Kryal Castle.

You could visit the Penguins on Phillip Island, Shopping at Queen Victoria Markets (always something cheap to amuse the kids), the city circle tram, a trip to Geelong, etc.. Theres lots to do in Melbourne.

I have also been to place called Beateu Bay (I'm sure I've spelt that wrong) and stayed at a holiday park, the pool there was amazing and they had a games room and plenty to keep the kids occupied.

Coolongatta Estate near Nowra. They do a Mr Berry Banquet, which is a great night out, dinner and entertainment. Kids will enjoy it too. They have accomodation on site.

You can always come back and visit Kiama and Shellharbour, many people come here every year for a family holiday. I'm biased because I live here, but its great =)

Hope I have given you some ideas and you and your family enjoy your holidays.

  3. A Place called South Durras on the south coast  NSW,has a nice resort but the best thing is Kangaroos actually go onto the beach and sometimes you can see dolphins at the same beach ,also when you walk to the local corner shop early in the morning the Kangaroos are actually hopping around the streets.

  4. Binna Burra mountain lodge.  You can stay in motel style accommodation with all meals provided or you can stay in a camp site with on site tents with real beds etc. which is not expensive or you can camp on site in your own tent.  You can go bushwalking, see caves, waterfalls, moss. After all the rain we have had this would be a beautiful place to visit.  If not here anywhere in the Mulwillumbah area.  You could camp at Shark Park for about $4 each per night and drive to lots natural arch, and other forest parks.  Get out there, think outside the square, go for an adventure, spend time with your kids that doesn't cost the earth and live, live, live.
