  1. Well, any of the national parks. Tayrona near Santa Marta is nice. San Augustin if you aren't white as rice has great archaeological stuff. The Gold museum in Bogota, Zipaquira, the salt mine/ cathedral, Monserrate, Melgar, (if you like the Jungle) Villavicencio is nice (great zoo) You can see whales at Gorgona Island (super primitive only access is by 2.5 hr boat ride from Guapi or Buenaventura (BuenaV not recommend for gringos) Los Katios is spectacular, Ciudad Perdida is very nice (ONLY go by helicopter) Nevado de Huila has an active volcano, Dance at Andres Carne De Res, Eat at Jaramillo pesceria, eat an arepa from the coast with the egg in it, Have some San Cocho soup. Go to Cartagena and see the fort from Romancing the stone and love in the time of Cholera. See the India Catalina statue, Go to San Andres and Providencia. Ive spent 35 years exploring Colombia and America south of the US border and Ive not even scratched the surface. Edit: For responder below. I was JUST in Cartagena. (My wifes aunt lives in Crespo. I can walk with my bags from the airport to their house) Sidewalks are not any dirtier in the not walled part of the city. Go to Cartagena sometime before you judge it.

  2. cartagena  on the caribic .  very old and historic  but donot go

outside downtown it is filthy and the sidewalks are very dangerous to walk on so are the streets to drive on potholes big as a crater

bucamaranga and medellin  are very nice and not so hot as the north coast  medellin has agood infrastructure nothing like in europe or some citys in the us  but taxis are cheap
