  1. Depends on where you are going....but here are some.

If you're a reader, you must check out Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington. Huge selection, huge store. Has a cafe with an outdoor patio overlooking a lake with ducks, geese, and fish. Nice place to sit, read, and while away the day.

Will you have kids with you? Local children's museum in Lexington is worth a look. There's stuff for all ages and even things for adults to look at/play with and say, "wow".

Kentucky's state parks are some of the best in the nation. near by: Cumberland Falls, one of the only 2 places globally you can see a Moonbow, is 90 mi. south of Lexington

Natural Bridge 52 mi. SE of Lexington. A great place to hike.

Lake Cumberland is 2hr. south of Lexington, large, beautiful lake

Mammoth Cave National Park is the world's longest cave system.

The Kentucky Horse Park is in between Lexington and Georgetown. The International Equestrian Games will be here in 2010.

Louisville, has Louisville Slugger museum, the Derby (though I lived in KY 36 yrs and never been).

Basketball is a kind of religion in Lexington. Just accept that we "bleed blue"...let's just not talk about this past season. It's virtually impossible to get tickets to a UK game, but if you can, then go! There's also a basketball museum.

  2. Bowling Green, KY is the only place in the world that makes Corvettes There's a museum with every model ever made! Bowling Green is also only 30 miles from Mammoth Cave (which is highly recommended, best thing I've been to in KY). There are lots of animals and above ground hiking trails, as well as the cave tours. There is also a KY Down Under park close to Mammoth Cave that also has a cool cave, along with kangaroos, birds, and many other animals. Chaney's Dairy Barn is a great place in Bowling Green to visit if you have kids. Great Ice Cream and farm! And Bowling Green is only 1 hour from Nashville, TN (Honky-Tonks, Music Row, Titan Football, lots of fun!)
